Seiko celebrates reinvention with the unveiling of the King Seiko VANAC and the appointment of Ryohei Suzuki as its first global ambassador.

It was on 18th July 2025, in the shimmering heart of Bangkok, where the city&rsquo;s skyline sparkles against the warm night air where Seiko Watch Corporation staged an evening of quiet grandeur and subtle opulence. Guests stepped into a space transformed, with a blend of Japanese refinement and contemporary Thai elegance, to witness a landmark moment for the brand: the introduction of acclaimed Japanese actor Ryohei Suzuki as the first-ever global ambassador for King Seiko, and the unveiling of the strikingly reimagined King Seiko VANAC series.
The atmosphere was electric yet intimate. Soft amber lighting bathed the room, casting a golden glow across showcases where the new VANAC models glimmered like treasures, their sharp angles and vivid dials catching every flicker of light. Crystal flutes chimed gently as conversations flowed, punctuated by the quiet hum of anticipation. The city outside may have been pulsing with energy, but inside, the world slowed, creating a moment entirely devoted to craftsmanship, artistry, and shared appreciation for the King Seiko legacy.
At the centre of the occasion, Akio Naito, President of Seiko Watch Corporation, offered a personal introduction to the collection. His words bridged past and present, underscoring the significance of VANAC as a bold emblem of Seiko&rsquo;s enduring spirit of innovation. Adding an extra layer of star power, celebrated Thai actor Ananda Everingham joined the guest list, reflecting the brand&rsquo;s expanding global dialogue.

The spotlight of the night, however, belonged to the new King Seiko VANAC collection. Originally conceived in the 1970s as a rebellious departure from traditional watchmaking aesthetics, VANAC was defined by its vivid colours, angular silhouettes, and futuristic edge. Today, those ideals are reborn, paired with the high-precision 8L45 mechanical movement and dials inspired by the changing Tokyo sky, from the soft hues of sunrise to the deep blues of midnight. With five references including three continuous-production models and two limited editions, the VANAC collection now takes its place as the sportier, more audacious expression of King Seiko, designed for a new generation of collectors who live at the intersection of heritage and modernity.
