The Rolex Perpetual 1908 is a watch of rare distinction with a unique identity that radiates elegance and finesse.

Rolex unveils a new iteration of the Perpetual 1908, a model first introduced last year. This new watch, launched at Watches &amp; Wonders 2024, is elegantly crafted in platinum and features an ice blue dial adorned with a guilloch&eacute; rice-grain motif. The distinctive pattern, originating from the small seconds counter at 6 o'clock, adds a tangible geometric texture across the dial's surface. An extra detail of a filet saut&eacute; with a crimped, guilloch&eacute; pattern surrounds the minute track.
To achieve this effect and to continue the collection&rsquo;s homage to classical watchmaking, this model employs engine turning, a precise technique where a turning tool carves patterns into the surface. Beautifully demonstrating Rolex's fusion of traditional craftsmanship with innovative design, the dial maintains the Arabic numerals 3, 9, and 12, along with faceted hour markers and hands found in the previously released gold versions.
The 1908 model is inspired by one of the earliest Rolex watches equipped with the Perpetual rotor. This collection reinterprets traditional horological styles, and its name pays tribute to the year Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, coined and registered the brand name in Switzerland. At its heart, the 1908 is dedicated to celebrating the art of watchmaking in its most noble form.

The 1908 comes powered by the in-house calibre 7140, a movement developed by Rolex for the launch of this model last year. This automatic movement boasts an aesthetic refinement, particularly noticeable on its bridges decorated with Rolex C&ocirc;tes de Gen&egrave;ve. Additionally, it is equipped with several of Rolex's patented innovations to enhance its functionality and durability. Prime among them is the Chronergy escapement that is made from nickel-phosphorus, known for its high energy efficiency and resistance to strong magnetic fields. This is complemented by the Syloxi hairspring, also patented by Rolex, which is made from silicon and designed to maintain regularity in any positional orientation of the watch. Further enhancing its robustness, the oscillator is mounted on Rolex&rsquo;s high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, significantly increasing the movement&rsquo;s shock resistance.
The new 1908 is fitted on a matte brown alligator leather strap. This elegant and matching strap is distinctive for its green calfskin lining and tone-on-tone stitching. To attach to the wrist, the strap is equipped with a platinum Dualclasp, a double folding clasp that always sits centred on the wrist.
